The organized hobby has been a big part of my fish keeping life and I enjoy seeing the people and the fish.<\/p>\n<p>I love to travel with fish friends to see cichlids in their native waters. I am proof that you don&#8217;t have to be a scientist, diver or a photographer to have fun chasing cichlids. To see fish in the wild that you have kept in your own aquarium is amazing. Being able to observe fish in their natural habitat has made me a better fish keeper.<\/p>\n<p>I am an <strong>Honorary Life Member<\/strong> of the <strong>Sacramento Aquarium Society<\/strong>, <strong>Pacific Coast Cichlid Association<\/strong> and the <strong>American Cichlid Association<\/strong>. I like to write about my fish experiences and have been published in the <strong>Buntbarsche Bulletin<\/strong>, <strong>Cichlidae Communique<\/strong>, <strong>Cichlid News<\/strong> and aquarium societies from Australia to Sweden. I have received numerous writing awards from the <strong>ACA<\/strong> and <strong>FAAS<\/strong>, including <strong>Best Continuing Column<\/strong> and <strong>Author of the Year<\/strong>. I am honored to be named a <strong>Fellow of the American Cichlid Association<\/strong> and the <strong>Cichlid Room Companion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I am a founding member of <strong>Babes In The Cichlid Hobby<\/strong> where we try to make a difference in cichlid keeping by raising money (nearly $210,000 to date) for Cichlid Conservation and Cichlid Research.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been a tropical fish enthusiast for years and cichlids are my passion.
