Jason Reding

Jason has always been fascinated with animals and wildlife since an early age, maintaining the ‘family’ aquarium throughout elementary and secondary school. Upon his post-secondary education, Jason discovered cichlids and with more independence started to accumulate several additional aquariums.

Located in Windsor, Ontario, Jason holds the benefit of both Canadian and United States based auctions and conferences, allowing for a wide array of cichlids to be kept. This resulted in him becoming a generalist, keeping cichlids from multiple regions (i.e., the three Rift Lakes, the Congo Basin, and Central America) in addition to livebearers, goodeids, tetras and various catfish. Jason’s more recent focus has been conservation and maintaining vulnerable and uncommon species as well as trying to source different lineages to enhance the genetic diversity of these species.

Jason participates in his local club of Windsor Aquarium Society along with several surrounding clubs. He is always intrigued by the different facets of the hobby and continually enjoys learning about different subjects relating to aquatic husbandry, filtration techniques, technological advances, aquascaping tricks and industry changes.

We are so glad to have Jason as our CARES for Individuals Coordinator, offering the opportunity for those hobbyists maintaining CARES listed species but not living near a local club to have their fish verified by our CARES team of experts and registered.
